First Lady Bernice Thompson is hosting a reception in honor of Pastor Thompson’s 50th birthday TODAY immediately following the 10:45 am Worship Service in the Fellowship Hall. Let’s celebrate this milestone of our beloved Senior Pastor.

Prayer Warriors Meeting

Our Senior Pastor, church and community need constant and consistent prayer. The prayers from the E family are critical for Pastor Thompson. Please come out to join this fellowship and prayer time on Thursday, July 10 at 5:30 pm.

Constitution and Bylaws

Copies of our updated Constitution and Bylaws will be available for members to review July 7 through August 14. They can be picked up during the AdMinistry Office’s normal business hours (Mon-Thur, 9 am to 3 pm). You will have to sign for a copy and have 2 weeks to return it to the office. Pastor Thompson will convene a meeting after the review cycle to seek approval of these documents.

Minister Gerald Clay’s First-Year Anniversary

I think we all agree that our Music Ministry has been a blessing to the membership. To show our appreciation, Pastor Thompson is hosting a reception on Sunday, July 20th immediately following the 10:45 am Worship Service in honor of Minister Clay. Emmanuel United Barbeque—Volunteers Needed!

We are in the planning stage for this event and need your help. Please see Sister Janice Donald FMI. Our second annual, Emmanuel United Bar B Que is on Saturday, August 2nd at America the Beautiful Park. We will have games for the kids, a Space Bubble and a lot of adult activities. Layman's Bible Study

Yolanda C. Daniels Memorial Scholarship

Liturgical Dance Ministry Rehearsal

Make a Splash Swimming Program

Did you know that African-American children are six times more likely to drown than any other group? Make a Splash is a national child-focused water safety initiative created by USA Swimming. The downtown YMCA has partnered with USA Swimming to offer
students of Helen Hunt and Rogers Elementary School, who receive free or reduced-price lunch, swimming lessons for only $5.00. Other groups may be eligible for this program—call Carolyn Tinsley at 329-7264 FMI.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity, Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter and American Baptist Convention. This Blitz Build will construct 11 homes in Baton Rouge. Some recipients were displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Support for Liza’s Place

This Colorado Springs Gospel rescue home has helped over 300 women get on their feet. Our Prison Ministry is partnering with them and need your support with these items: blankets, personal hygiene items, underwear, socks, towels/wash cloths, comb and study-bibles. A collection box is in the Fellowship Hall.

Well Woman Exams

Well-Woman exams (breast exam, pap tests and some mammograms) are available to low income, uninsured women, 40 years of age and older at no cost. Call 578-3111 for more information or to see if you qualify.

One Worship Service

Emmanuel will hold one Worship Service at 10:45 a.m. on the following Sunday, Sunday, July 6th, 2008. There will be no Intercessory Prayer and Pastor Thompson will teach a combined Sunday School Class at 9:30 am. Holy Communion will be celebrated during the June 1st morning worship service.
