community out- reach programs, as well as partnering with local
civic organization such as the NAACP, The Urban League, The
Southern Colorado AIDS Project and others. Here is a brief look
at many of the ministries at Emmanuel.

Family Support Ministry4

Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church's
Family Support Ministry
exists mainly to serve the needs of the church congregation. As
Christians
we are faced with the same kinds of struggles and
challenges as anyone
else, but sometimes we are reluctant to
reach out for help. By addressing the underlying needs around
these struggles and challenges, this ministry can help
strengthen our congregation as a whole. This is how God will use
this ministry to empower the body of Christ.
Deacons Ministry4

The Deacons are the trusted stewards of the church. Persons of
good character and strong faith upon whose shoulders the rest
the physical operation of the church. It is the Deacons' duty to
shore up and oversee the needs of God's house and God's people,
and to support and assist the Pastor and the ministerial staff
so that they would be free to concentrate on seeing to the
spiritual needs of the body of Christ.

Pastor, which will allow him to concentrate on the preparation
and delivery of God's word.

Music Ministry4
Minister
Gerald Clay, Minister of Music
Emmanuel's Music Ministry is a vehicle for evangelism whose
expression is embodied in various musical idioms: hymns,
anthems, spirituals, traditional and contemporary Gospel music.
This ministry's focus is providing exceptional music for praise
and worship and the spiritual and musical development of singers
and instrumentalists in the worship of God.
Liturgical Dance Ministry
Sister Sheila Scott,
Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Liturgical Dance Ministry builds the church from
the inside out by exalting the Father, Son and Holy Spirit
through Christian dance and praise.
Media Ministry
Deacon Troy Jackson,
Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Media Ministry serves the Emmanuel congregation by
providing high quality tape recordings that are available
immediately following the worship service. We provide tapes to
our sick and shut in members and the community at large. The
Media Ministry also records the weekly Emmanuel broadcast tape
for the local radio station. This ministry is responsible for
operating the sound system during all services and events.
Culinary Ministry

Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Culinary Ministry develops a well-balanced menu
for the Emmanuel family and guests. This ministry prepares food
for special events such as church and pastoral anniversaries,
picnics, repasts and receptions. The Culinary Ministry maintains
control of the food pantry and extensive kitchen inventory, and
advises all ministries that plan to serve food.

The number one threat to youth today is an ineffective black church. Today's
youth are facing life and death challenges: crime, drugs, gangs, teen
pregnancy.
Emmanuel's Youth Ministry empowers Emmanuel's youth
to live a life boldly for Christ beyond the walls of Emmanuel.
eStyle means Empowering Spiritual Thinking in Young Lives. It means meeting
young people in their place on their terms during the most critical years of
their lives.

Preparations are underway for our 2009 tour
of Historically Black Colleges and
Universities. The objective of Emmanuel's
Historically Black Colleges And Universities
Tour is to inspire 9th-12th grade students
in Colorado to pursue a college education by
exposing and educating them to the academic
environment and educational opportunities
available at Historically Black Colleges and
Universities.

PALS Ministry

Emmanuel's Prayer And Assistance for Local and Long-Distance
Students Ministry encourages spiritual growth, academic success,
and perseverance for undergraduate students. The ministry sends
care packages to students four times annually, and sponsors
student socials annually to connect students to sponsors.

Emmanuel's Scholarship Ministry helps to prepare and assist
students pursuing higher education in obtaining scholarships,
grants and financial assistance. Our children are our most
precious resource, and Emmanuel is committed to supporting the
academic advancement of our students and building our community
of tomorrow.
Boy Scouts Ministry
Emmanuel's Boy Scouts Ministry provides an exciting place
where young men, ages eleven through eighteen, can be
encouraged, motivated and empowered in the principles of life
and the customs and traditions of the Boy Scouts of America.
This is accomplished in an environment that promotes spiritual
growth, maturity, leadership and teamwork.
Cub Scouts Ministry
Emmanuel's Cub Scouts Ministry provides an educational
program for boys and young adults to build character, to train
on the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to
develop personal fitness and core values of morality and
spirituality.
Girl Scouts Ministry

Emmanuel's Girl Scouts Ministry offers girls opportunities
to learn new skills, promotes an understanding of individual,
cultural, religious and racial differences. The Girls Scouts
Ministry encourages girls to reexamine their ideals as they
mature, and helps develop concern for the community.

Emmanuel's Church School's mission is to provide information
and Christian growth through Baptist doctrine. Emmanuel provides
a number of classes, groups and ministries that provide a wealth
of knowledge and challenging dialogue on issues of spiritual,
political and cultural importance.
Consecrated Women's
Ministry
Emmanuel's Consecrated Women's Ministry prepares Holy Communion for
the first Sunday of each month and other communion services as
scheduled. The Consecrated Women also assist in helping families in
need and during bereavement periods.
Health Ministry
Sister Sena Griffin, Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Health Ministry supports the congregation through
using the gift of help and ministering to those in need. This
ministry provides medical assistance in emergency situations to
those in need until medical persons arrive. Our goal is to
promote health and well-being through education and information
for the Church and community.
Laymen's Ministry
Deacon Everett Griggs, Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Laymen's Ministry cultivates the Christian life of
laymen through bible study, worship, fellowship and service. The
ministry prepares boys and men to assume church leadership
positions by providing spiritual tools to be more effective,
more understanding, and better informed. The Laymen's Ministry
enlists unchurched men for fellowship in and service through the
church and to bring unsaved men into vital relations with God in
Christ through personal commitment to Him.
New Disciples Ministry

Mayo, Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's New Disciples Ministry welcomes all new members
in a warm and friendly environment who join Emmanuel Missionary
Baptist Church. The New Disciples Ministry assists new members
with appropriate paperwork, provides information about the New
Disciples Classes, provide follow-up welcome calls, assist with
Baptism needs, and direct them to the other ministries they may
have an interest in joining.
Security Team

This adaptive, committed, competent, communicative, and
protective team ensure a safe and secure environment for all
Worship Services. This team reports directly to the Senior
Pastor and is responsible for the security of church facilities
when the church doors are open to the public..
Singles Ministry
Emmanuel's Singles Ministry provides support and
encouragement to men and women who are presently unmarried. The
ministry provides a means for single Christians to develop and
utilize their talents in the church. The ministry helps singles
realize that they are unique and whole individuals. The Singles
Ministry ministers to the spiritual and social needs of single
Christians.
Women's Ministry

Emmanuel's Women's Ministry promotes the spiritual
development of the women of Emmanuel. The ministry actively
participates in the work of the church through weekly Bible
Study, prayer groups and outreach to the women of Emmanuel and
throughout the community.
Usher's Ministry

Ushers are servants that are doorkeepers in the House of God
and guard it at all times during the service. They prepare the
Church and see that it is in proper condition for the worship
services.

AIDS Ministry

Emmanuel's AIDS Ministry offers education and prevention
information to our congregation and the community at large on
AIDS prevention, education and treatment. Emmanuel collaborates
with The Southern Colorado AIDS Project and Hospice to assist
those persons living with AIDS with day-to-day chores and
visitations. The Holy Bible and Emmanuel's vision are the basis
for the services we provide.
Prison Ministry

Davis, Ministry Leader
Emmanuel's Prison Ministry advances the Kingdom of God by
ministering to prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families by
proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. This ministry assists
prisoners and their families in an effort to bring about healing
and reconciliation. The ministry assists prisoners and
ex-prisoners in dealing with every day practical situations. The
ministry impresses upon the local church the importance of the
call, the charge and the mandate of the church to minister to
those who are incarcerated.
Seniors Ministry
Emmanuel's Golden Age Ministry partners with the Silver Key
Organization to meet the unique needs of the Colorado Springs
Senior Citizens. They host weekly Christian Fellowships and
Bible Studies and participate in Silver Key-sponsored field
trips, exercise classes and lunches. Minimum age for Silver Key
activities is 65 years. Bible Studies are open to everyone,
regardless of age.
Visitation Ministry

Emmanuel's Visitation Ministry is a couples ministry that
provides home, hospital and hospice visits to sick and shut-in
members. The Visitation Ministry ministers to the sick members
and their families as needed, and reports their status to the
Pastor. |
